Cost is just a $1 minimum donation at the door. Games feature announcers, concessions and the event is fan-friendly (the schedule for this weekend- on following page). Notable players that you will catch at the Pro-Am fall into various types:

Type 1: recent college graduates hitting a stride- peaking now; looking at overseas or NBDL

Mike James- 6’ 2” point guard- Grant HS state champion, Lamar University (scored 52 points in a game at Lamar); James is one of the most impressive players of the 2012 PDX Pro-Am after two weeks.

Garrett Sim- 6’ 3” shooting guard- University of Oregon 2 year starter- strong Pro-Am performances.

Coletun Tarr- 6’ 6” shooting guard- Mt. Hood CC- now Warner Pacific- impressive Pro-am performances

Kalonji Pascal- 6’ 1” point guard- Jefferson HS & Mesa State U. - true point guard- great ball control.

Dominique Watson- 6 foot 2 point guard- played at Lane College- impressive showings, averaging roughly 6 dunks per game and 25 pts/game- in Pro-Am. Has played professionally- has 48 inch vertical.

Joe Wolfinger – 7 foot center from U of Washington, had tremendous ‘breakout’ season in the 2012 International Basketball League season- late developer who deserves strong post collegiate look.

Type 2: former professionals- who have moved on from professional basketball- but still carry a great game

David Lucas- 6’9” small forwardOregon State University –a two-time All-PAC 10 performer for the Beavers (2004/2005) before moving on to a pro career overseas and in the IBL.

David Jackson- 6’ 5” shooting guard- represents the veteran side of the Pro-Am. Jackson- a former U of O player - played 12 highly successful years- overseas as a shooting guard.

Type 3: small college players (the Pro-Am league is full of players like this)

Scott Pisapia- 6’ 2” shooting guard- 1st team all-league RA Long HS in Longview where he led his team to 1st win at state in 50 years, now at Lewis & Clark College (Scott is like many players in the Pro-Am)

Type 4: high school elite players such as the following

Kameron Chatman- 6’ 8” small forward- Jefferson HS- son of Canaan Chatman, 15 year old prospect

Khyan Rayner- 6’ 1” point guard- 1st team all state from Jesuit HS, a division 1 Ivy League recruit

LJ Westbrook- 6’ 4” guard- all state player from North Salem, committed to Oregon State University

Tyler Gutierrez- 6’ 7” forward- Sunset HS –strong upside- heading into JR year

Dyrall Goods- 6’ 1” point guard- Westview HS- heading into SR year- a division 1 prospect

Type 5: ‘hidden gems’- guys who missed out on a notable college career- but are peaking late

Cam Rier- 6’ 4” point guard- medium success at Linfield- playing well at new position (point guard). Cam is coached by his father Rick Rier with the "PortlandBasketball.com House Team”; for a quick video featuring the 2012 Pro-Am and this particular 8th ranked team- click on this video-  (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kAJl4G0CXP0&feature=plcp

Kashias Lewis- 6’ 5” shooting guard- represents the intriguing side of the Pro-Am where you catch players with tremendous abilities/tremendous skill but who missed out on a solid college experience for a variety of reasons. Lewis had 36 pts (in a 50-min running time game) opening weekend of the Pro-Am.

Josh Jackson- 6’ 3” point guard made 1st team in recent overseas 25 team professional basketball tournament; Josh- a late developer out of Warner Pacific, plays Division1 overseas – and is currently peaking with his point guard skills- considered an NBA point guard prospect by various trainers in PDX.

How this August 25th & 26th playoff weekend works: there will be games from 2pm-8pm again—but within those times, the top 4 teams will be playing in a tournament; those tournament games feature 48-minute game times, NBA rules and stacked rosters (playoff teams can recruit any player from anywhere, including other rosters); the ‘Pro Am Final4’ has historically been very exciting, high level games & full crowds. For teams not in the playoffs these final games (below) are played for rankings.

Top team- the Portland Chinooks are favored to win the league: the Portland Chinooks are an 8th year professional level team that plays in the International Basketball League. The last time the Chinooks played in the Pro-Am (2010), the Chinooks went 10-0 in capturing the coveted summer title. The Chinooks were also runners up in the 2012 professional level league—the International Basketball League. The Chinooks feature a lot of new talent including sharp shooting Ryan Scott (son of Dennis Scott- NBA fame) as well as above mentioned Dominique Watson, Joe Wolfinger & more.

About the Pro-Am: this is the same Pro-Am league ran by Tim Pitmon in the 1990s that featured NBA & Trail Blazer greats who would get their summer workouts at the Salvation Army and later- Concordia College. The Pro-Am was handed to Canaan Chatman in the 2000’s who renamed the league GNSL (Greater NW Summer League); Canaan Chatman also featured NBA players but pushed for more college players and in fact, included some high school elite players who went on to play D1 college & NBA basketball. Today- this 2012 summer Pro-Am league is run by Mikal Duilio of PortlandBasketball.com (in cooperation with Chatman). Chatman has also entered his own team—ICP Elite—a roster of up and coming young talent (15 - 17 year old elite players) coached by Dony Wilcher.

Media note: any questions, please contact Mikal Duilio at 503-380-4539; text for quickest response.

Portland State University located at 1825 SW Broadway Portland Oregon 97201

The best place to park is at the PSU parking lot located on Broadway (7th avenue) and the cross street- Hall. It is free all day on Sunday and as well it is free on weeknights (free from 7pm on but inside tip- no one checks the lot after 5pm in that garage). there is a 2nd PSU parking structure (free as well) on SW 12th street (and SW 13th); this is the parking garage to the immediate right as you come off of the Market Place exit (coming down HWY 26 from Beaverton/Westside). The third option is of course street parking but those parking meters are in effect till 7pm on weeknights & Sundays so unless you are parking after 7pm, you may want to take the first 2 options (the free parking garages). The gym is right next to the soccer/football practice field which is the equivalent of 10th street and the southernmost part of the campus area- easy to find- look for a gym looking building when you enter the campus (walking).
